Callie Jackson & Michael Slider

Maumelle’s Callie Jackson and Little Rock native Mike Slider met on just another regular night at a bar in The Heights district in Little Rock. The proposal, however, had a little more dramatic flair. The couple took separate weekend trips, Callie to Fayetteville and Mike to Tulsa, or so Callie thought. When she asked Mike for pictures of their cat to make sure it was ok before he left, he wouldn’t send one. Little did Callie know, he was in Fayetteville, too. She was already suspicious, but she knew exactly what was happening when a photographer stopped and asked for help modeling at Crystal Bridges Museum the next day. Mike appeared, proposed and then whisked his new fiancée off to dinner where their parents were excitedly awaiting their arrival.

The Inspiration

Bright, airy and thoroughly Southern—that’s what comes to mind when you look at Callie and Mike’s wedding day. They played off the historic venue with elegance, the architecture playing as much of a decorative role as the florals, giving the attendees a rustic garden party that echoed Southern grace and hospitality.

How They Customized

Aside from the stunning décor (including handpicked cotton in the floral arrangements and a 4-foot-tall monogram serving as a guest book), the menu was the perfect reflection of the couple’s laid back personalities. Not ones for fancy dinners, Callie and Michael chose to serve treats like mac and cheese bites, chicken tenders and mini “Sliders.” And to put the icing on the Southern cake, the couple held a tea bar in lieu of a cocktail hour where guests could enjoy different types of teas and lemonades.
