The countdown is on for Clinton native Ressie Ragland and Mitchell Thomas of Neelyville, Missouri. This couple will say their I-do's on Saturday, Dec. 12, at the First Baptist Church in Leslie.

Now, instead of an official engagement session, we've instead got a pre-engagement sesh that includes the exact moment Mitchell popped the question! Here's the story from Ressie:

We went to Lexington, Kentucky, to see John Conlee, one of my favorite artists who we had gone to see on our first date. Since we were there, we decided to tour the Woodford Reserve Distillery. After the tour, we went outside to have my best friend take some pictures of us with the distillery in the background.

I noticed he was still carrying the bottle he bought in the gift shop, and when I pointed it out, he said, "Oh yeah, there's something weird on this bottle I wanted you to see." He handed me the bottle which was engraved with "Ressie Lee Ragland will you marry me?" He got down one knee and said all the right things. I hugged him and made him get up so I could hug him more. In all the excitement, I forgot to look at the ring or say "yes!" We followed it up with a nice dinner and the John Conlee concert. Pretty much a perfect day.

We'll cheers to that! Congratulations, Mitchell and Ressie!
