You've planned and planned and planned some more. You're only 60 days out — 2 months! — which means you're finally eligible to get your Arkansas wedding license. The best part is, this might just be the simplest process of the entire wedding planning experience.

Know this beforehand

There are a couple rules to know before getting your marriage license in Arkansas:

  • Both parties must be 18 years of age or older to contract for a marriage license in Arkansas.
  • Both applicants must be present and together when license is issued.

Where to go

You and your future husband will need to make a trip down to any County Clerk's office in the state of Arkansas. A quick Google search will find the nearest one to you. Then hop in the car and head over.

Once you're there

The Arkansas marriage license fee is $60. You'll pay and receive your marriage license on the spot. What you'll receive is a partially filled-out license. The County Clerk will fill out their portion up top, leaving a blank area for you, your husband and your officiant to fill out on your actual wedding day.

The marriage license is then valid for 60 days (they make that pretty easy to remember), so make sure your wedding date isn't, say, 61 days away. In fact, we recommend that you wait until more like 20 days away from your wedding day because you'll still have to take your signed marriage license back to the same County Clerk to get the final stamp of approval. If you're going on a honeymoon, you'll want to give yourselves time on the backend of the wedding so that your good-for-sixty-days marriage license doesn't expire before you get a chance to make it truly official.

It's that easy! After the ink has dried and you have your beautiful marriage license in your hands, we suggest snapping a picture and tagging #arbride on Instagram, like Stephanie & Collin Benton
