Kim Cuenca & Patrick Zebron
October 11, 2020 / Willow Brooke Farm in Huntsville

KIM AND PATRICK connected online and finally met over coffee at Arsaga’s at the Depot in Fayetteville. They talked for four hours, long after closing time, and have been inseparable ever since.

On the second anniversary of their first meeting, Patrick made reservations at the same restaurant for brinner (breakfast/dinner), and in their excitement, they both got ready too early and decided to get drinks while they waited for their table to be ready. They went to their favorite bar, Cannibal & Craft and Patrick told Kim to go sit upstairs while he got their drinks. Instead of returning with drinks, he dropped to one knee. Even though Kim had predicted that Patrick would propose on their anniversary, she was still shocked and cried as she said yes. Their friend Paul, who was the general manager at the bar, had specialty whiskey sour spinoffs called “The Proposal” waiting for them when they came down to the bar.

PLANNING DURING A PANDEMIC

Kim and Patrick ended up eloping in their first home together six months and one day prior to their original wedding date. Their families watched via Zoom. Kim did not wear her wedding dress, nor did they get dressed up. They wanted to save that for their October wedding day to still keep the “big wedding” vibe alive.

When their October wedding date got closer, they cut their guest count from 200 to about 100, then to 75—their final count was about 50 on the day of.

HOW THEY CUSTOMIZED

They knew they wanted an edgy and modern wedding that stayed true to who they were. After a tour and a two-hour conversation with the owners, Kim and Patrick chose to get married at Willow Brooke Farm. Kim especially loved the black exterior of the venue.

Kim got her “Made for Love” wedding dress from Joon Bridal, which she felt complemented her tattoos. She purchased her earrings and veil from Tesori and loved that they made her look bridal, but not too girly. Her favorite fashion elements were her glittery Betsey Johnson boots and custom Linny + Bee jacket. She also wore all-white platform Vans for her second shoes.

Kim always wanted a cushion-cut diamond ring with black diamonds. She found the perfect wedding band for Patrick at Blakeman’s Fine Jewelry, which complemented the black and white of her ring set.

Because Patrick is 6 feet, 10 inches tall, he ordered a custom suit from Indochino that reflected his relaxed gun-metal groom style and wore low-top Converse to complete his more casual look.

Kim designed their stationery and the signs around the venue. As a part of her "Flower Love Language" experience, Diana of Samantha’s Garden asked Kim to describe their relationship in at least five words, and she used a flower book to put each word with its corresponding flower: Bells of Ireland for lucky, primrose for patience, hydrangeas for understanding, black magic rose for trust, peppermint for best friend and canna for playful.

For their reception, they wanted to incorporate industrial edges with Victorian twists.

Guests sipped "The Proposal" cocktail recreated from the night of their engagement, and that same friend was the reception bartender.
