Tiffany Mays & Prentice Ceola O’Guinn, III

Little Rock newlyweds Tiffany and Prentice O’Guinn’s inevitable union is remarkable considering the minimal contact they had with each other for nearly a decade. “Prentice and I met each other over 10 years ago here in Arkansas, but we were both in school and living in two separate places,” Tiffany said. “We would often ask about each other throughout the years via our family members, but our paths did not cross again until July 2008.”  This reunion ignited romance, and the duo quickly became a couple. Then, on Tiffany’s 30th birthday, Prentice proposed.

Palette of Pastels

Examine a pearl or opal and you can find the iridescent shades Tiffany was drawn to for her wedding-day design. As she calls them, “French Almond, Irish Crème and Chocolate” were among the main hues incorporated throughout. She said the pastels were inspired by the bridesmaids’ dresses – blush, champagne-colored frocks with mocha trimmings. “I picked a dress that I really liked and then the colors that I thought the dresses would look the best [with],” Tiffany said.

A Touch of Tradition

For the ceremony of her dreams, the cathedral-esque interior of the Wesley United Methodist Church was picture-perfect. It also was the church Tiffany’s family has been involved with since she was born, and where both her sisters were married. “I wanted to make sure that I played a part in our family tradition,” Tiffany said. And “the building’s old age made the church look absolutely gorgeous.”

Chic & Contemporary

“We received so many compliments about our reception that it’s been overwhelming,” Tiffany said. “Our videographer told us that it was the most beautiful wedding he’d seen in over nine years.”

Part of what made the event so rave-worthy had to be some of their extravagant extras: the gorgeous floral chandelier hanging above the dance floor; the lighted monogram behind the stage; the bedazzled disposable cameras; the unique table names that each represented something about the bride and groom; and the tall table arrangements with crystal ropes dangling from dreamy branches.

Sparkle & Pop

Tipton & Hurst created exactly what Tiffany and Prentice wanted for their wedding reception – a contemporary event with mainly white décor, crystals and “bling everywhere,” she said. “We chose to use an all-white dance floor and we draped the room with white fabric to add a true contemporary look.”

Tiffany did stray from an all-white design, however, and requested purple and blue up-lighting that made a dramatic impact on the room. “It felt like we were somewhere else other than the country club.”

Celebrating Celebrities

Among the 400 guests toasting the occasion were some very special friends, including Tiffany’s pal from Spelman College in Atlanta, Keisha Knight Pulliam (Rudy from “The Cosby Show”), former Arkansas governor Jim Guy Tucker, retired NBA star Corliss Williamson and boxer Jermain Taylor.
