Scranton natives and Clarksville residents Greta Sikes and Michael Strobel are set to wed Aug. 3 at Subiaco Abbey in Subiaco. Sheena Ashlock of Heartstrings Photography by Sheena Ashlock was kind enough to send us these engagement photos, as well as the couple's love story:
Being from the same town, Mike and I have known each other all of our lives. In November 2011, we went on a couple of dates, but weren’t sure if we were ready for a serious relationship. It only took us three months to say our “I love you’s." Our families and friends all knew one another, so it just seemed perfect.
In December 2012, he took me down to my family’s lake property. He insisted we walk down to the bank by the water and sit on a rock bench. He began to talk about all the memories that I have had there with my family. He said, “You have made so many memories with your family here, and this is your favorite place to be. I’d like to be a part of a memory here, too.” He got down on his knee, and he asked, “Greta, will you marry me?"
Of course, I said yes! That moment really showed me that he had noticed my favorite place and memories, and that it was very important to him. I’ll always remember that added moment at the lake on the rock bench.
