Amelia Fallwell of Maumelle and Tuckerman resident Shane Smith will exchange vows Dec. 13, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Newport.

Shane spent Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with my family and I, and at some point, he slipped a ring box into my stocking. Inside the ring box was the cutest sterling silver "owl" ring that matched a necklace Shane had previously given to me. The ring was adorable; however, I would be lying if I said I wasn't a tiny bit disappointed that it wasn't, indeed, an engagement ring. Just when I was about to close the box and move on to the next stocking stuffer, Shane nervously asked, "Did you not see the note in there? There was a note in that ring box. I guess you lost it." Upon re-examination of the box, I noticed a tiny, neatly-folded note in the top portion of the ring box that read, "Amelia, Will you Marry me? (You get a real ring on Saturday)." I can't remember much that happened after that, but my mom told me that I never gave poor Shane an answer. I just laughed a lot. The following Saturday Shane and I traveled to Memphis, met with a jeweler and customized the engagement ring of my dreams!
