West Africa may not be the first place you’d expect to find your future husband, but that’s exactly how it happened for Becca Hedges of Little Rock. While teaching public school science with the Peace Corps in Burkina Faso, Zach Noonan of Miami was also there on assignment with the Air Force. The two met at a going away party and four years later, they got engaged with celebratory pizza.
The Inspiration
Becca wanted all of her guests to experience all the wonderful things her hometown could offer, so she set out to turn heads. There were some more traditional wedding elements she wanted to keep, but everything else was a laid back, uncommon experience. Even the classic touches had a more mellow vibe, with earthy hues and vibrant colors catching guests’ eyes at every turn.
The Details
DIY and Little Rock flair was abundant at the Noonan wedding. Becca made lots of funky decorations, like the gold animal swizzle sticks and paper backdrops, while her sister painted the photo booth backdrop. As an added nod to their beginnings, their guestbook was an African map of Burkina Faso.
Locavore Love
The couple asked Butcher & Public for an array of cured meats—all Arkansas-raised. Rolls from Arkansas Fresh Bakery accompanied the meats. Diamond Bear brews flowed and Boulevard Bread Co. supplied the pies for the groom’s table.
