If at first you don’t fall for the love of your life, keep bumping into them around town until you do. Well, it worked for Corning native Natalie Black and Patrick Blaney from Heber Springs. They met at a party and went their separate ways without much thought, occasionally seeing each other around Little Rock. It was after she invited him to her birthday gathering that he asked her out, and they’ve been together ever since.
Two years went by, and the couple was visiting Natalie’s family for Thanksgiving. As they took turns saying what they were most thankful for, Patrick proclaimed that what would make him most thankful would be to make her his wife.
The Inspiration
The atmosphere Natalie built at the inn was natural and ethereal. She opted for lots of bright whites, grays and greens to help guests feel “like it was the only place on Earth for one weekend.” The goal was for guests to fall in love with Heber Springs, and the couple achieved it with an airy daydream of a wedding.
How They Customized
Instead of a dizzying swirl of extravagant events, Natalie and Patrick designed a relaxing weekend for guests, most of whom stayed at the inn for two nights, allowing the couple to spend quality time with friends and family.
Although they chose not to enlist a wedding party, the intimate ceremony had numerous personal touches, such as Natalie’s brother singing a song from their parents’ wedding as she walked down the aisle, and the overflowing of hydrangeas that honored Patrick’s late mother.
