Stephanie Harvey & Collin Benton

Chi Omega Greek Theatre and the Air & Military Museum in Fayetteville
It seems love was in the air at the University of Arkansas. Collin Benton of Fayetteville and Stephanie Harvey of Colleyville, Texas, met in their college algebra class sophomore year. After being assigned to a group project, the two hit it off. Two graduations and four years later, Collin surprised Stephanie with an impromptu trip to Beaver Lake. Being an outdoorsy couple, Stephanie didn’t think much of it. While fishing in a private cove, Collin instructed Stephanie to walk to the front of the boat. When she turned around, he was down on one knee with a beautiful ring in his hands.
The Inspiration
Working as an event planner for Bates-Reed Brides, Stephanie has seen her fair share of weddings. When it came to planning her own, she tried to block out what she’d seen before and focus on what she and Collin wanted on their big day.
The other challenge that came with Stephanie’s job and planning a wedding was that she had already worked in almost every venue in northwest Arkansas. They wanted venues that had special significance to them. The Greek Theatre was an obvious choice, seeing as the couple met at U of A and Stephanie was a Chi Omega. They chose the air museum for the reception because Collin’s father has an airplane and hangar at Drake Field and Collin spent a lot of time there during his childhood.
How They Customized
Some of the couple’s favorite personal details were the travel-themed wedding favors at each place setting, the wedding monogram that LightWorks Events created, the lounge pillows custom-made with the couple’s wedding monogram and the paper airplane programs that guests threw as Stephanie and Collin exited the ceremony.
Stephanie’s mother gave her something blue in the form of a blue topaz stone that was set in rose gold to match her engagement ring. Stephanie and Collin were fortunate enough to use Collin’s great-grandfather’s 1954 candy-apple red Chevrolet for a their exit car after the ceremony. Stephanie describes it as a fairytale moment, driving alone to the reception in their first moments as husband and wife.
