Sometimes friendships turn into the best relationships, which is exactly the case for Callie Layer of Jonesboro and Dustin Kellums of Paragould. The two met through mutual friends in high school and began dating in 2011. Five years later, they decided to tie the knot during an simple and organic outdoor wedding in Callie’s parent’s backyard.
The entire week before the wedding, there was a 100 percent chance of rain forecasted for their wedding day. There was a backup plan in place, but Plan A was much more ideal. Four hours before the ceremony, Callie learned that the sun was shining, which made their wedding day all the more sweeter.
The Inspiration
Callie had always dreamed of having an outdoor wedding. She and Dustin found exactly what they wanted in Callie’s parent’s backyard. The decor was simple and natural, letting nature steal the show.
How They Customized
The laidback, dreamy feel of the Kellums wedding began with Callie’s idea for the light fixtures, bringing together greenery, wood pallets, branches and cafe lighting. Since Callie’s bridesmaids were wearing different dresses, she opted for using greenery to keep the look simple.
The Kellums chose not to have music during the ceremony, but two of Callie’s uncles played guitar and sang before the ceremony and as she walked down the aisle.
