Peyton Brazear & Chase Barnes
March 30, 2019 / Little Rock
Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church & Clinton Presidential Center

Chase Barnes and Peyton Brazear’s love story started with one very cute puppy Chase found on the side of the road. Chase sent Peyton a photo of the puppy and Peyton remembers thinking that this would be a deal-breaker in their relationship — if he rescued the dog, then he was definitely the one for her. Minutes later, Chase sent a photo of “Ridge” in the front seat and texted her to say “We’re headed home!”

About 15 months later, Chase proposed on Easter while they were at the river with their lab, Macy. He wanted to practice retrieving bumpers with her because she was headed back to duck school the next morning. Macy retrieved a white bumper with “Marry Me?” written across the front and delivered it to Peyton as Chase got down on one knee.

THE INSPIRATION

When it came to her wedding day vision, Peyton knew she wanted bright pops of color. She worked with her wedding planner, Anne-Claire Allen, to weave color throughout all aspects of her day — from florals and linens to décor and paperie. Pink and white linens in a geometric pattern, which matched the envelope liner for her wedding invitations, were used for the cake table. When guests arrived, the cake table was the first thing they saw and was probably an aha! moment for many guests.

One of Peyton’s favorite parts of her day was the florals. Her good friend and bridesmaid, Gabrielle Schryver’s mom owns Vase & Vine, so it was a no-brainer that Peyton would use them. The day was filled with coral peonies, peach David Austin roses, peach roses, hot pink roses, yellow snapdragons, yellow ranunculus, light pink spray roses and hot pink ranunculus with very little greenery.

The subtle geometric pattern of the table linens were a nod to Peyton's pink geometric envelope liners, a design element that inspired many aspects of the décor.

HOW THEY CUSTOMIZED

Peyton’s gorgeous gown from Unveiled Bridal Collection was completely custom. She had something very specific in mind so she worked with owner Betsy Manning to combine parts of two different Amsale gowns to create the finished product. Peyton’s silk faille gown had a softly structured envelope neckline and a clean A-line skirt with hidden side pockets.

COLOR STORY

Not to compete with the bright florals, Peyton chose a subtle color for her bridesmaid dresses. She worked with Alex DeJohn at Bella Bridesmaids to choose sateen twill Dessy dresses in taupe. Peyton’s house party wore a slightly lighter shade and a different style than the bridesmaids. As for the guys, they wore a classic black tux. Chase wore matching cuff links with his Dad that he bought him for Christmas since they share the same initials — CLB.

The couple chose a seven-tier cake with minimal cascading florals. The cake was funfetti (the couple’s favorite) and strawberry flavored with white buttermilk icing.

Peyton’s favorite wedding moment was during the ceremony when the pastor had her and Chase turn around and look at all of the attendees.

“It was a full church, and he told us all of the guests were here to celebrate us and our marriage, and that all of the guests would never be in the same room, all together ever again,” she said. “I honestly don’t remember much that he said, but we both definitely remember that.”
