MaryScott and Logan met at a social function during their first year of law school at Ole Miss. Logan remembers MaryScott approaching him and a group of their now great friends and asking, “What are the Mississippi State boys doing?”
“Lucky for me, I was the only State boy there. The conversation led to a GroupMe message (not my proudest moment), which led to an exchange of phone numbers,” Logan said. “After a few months of persistent effort on my end, and equally as persistent resistance on MaryScott’s end, she finally caved and agreed to become my girlfriend.”
As they were nearing the end of law school, Logan asked MaryScott to be his wife on the slope of her favorite ski run in Deer Valley, Utah. After she said yes, the couple skied down the run to their family and friends who were waiting for them.
MaryScott and Logan knew they wanted a big wedding that fit their personalities, but they still wanted it to feel intimate and personal for their guests. For their spring fête, they decided on an array of pink, yellow, blue and cream hues, and MaryScott said it turned out even better than she imagined!
“I carried a timeless classic—a petite clutch of lily of the valley. My bridesmaids carried colorful pastel bouquets of pink o’hara roses, butter dutch stock, ranunculus and hydrangea. The stage, bar and cake tablecloth mirrored the blush cherry blossom branches in elevated vases filling the room,” MaryScott said.

Q: Tell us all the details about your wedding dress and second look!
A: “ When I first started looking, I wanted a simple dress without any lace. As soon as I tried on my all lace, high-neck long-sleeve dress, I never wanted to take it off…” MaryScott said. “...I couldn’t decide on a second look. At the last second (as in the dress came in on Wednesday night of our wedding week), I found the PERFECT dress to dance in all night long!”
Q: Tell us about your floral hanging displays!
A: “With the high ceilings and openness of our venue, I wanted something that would stand out in such a big room but wouldn’t overshadow the architecture,” MaryScott said. “Tanarah Haynie took my vision and RAN.”
Q: What inspired your signature cocktails?
A: “Logan’s signature drink was an Old Fashioned and my signature drink was a Dirty Shirley,” MaryScott said. “Logan tries the old-fashioned everywhere we go, from Chilis to Sonny Williams. In the same manner, my favorite drink has always been a Shirley Temple.”
Q: What was your most worth-it wedding splurge?
A: “Our band was truly incredible. Manhattan has over 20 lead singers to choose from so Logan and I spent one night with my parents watching each of the singers perform,” MaryScott said. “We rated them to pick which singers we wanted on our wedding day. And boy did we pick right! I even did an impromptu performance of “Hit Me Baby One More Time” for the crowd.”
Q: What is your secret to wedding planning success?
A: “Remembering this is the only time we would be in the same room as all of our favorite people really helped put everything in perspective. In the beginning, we picked the three things that were the most important to us,” MaryScott said. “This helped us to recognize where to splurge and where we could cut costs. Finally, romanticize each and every part of wedding planning. Our food tasting was by far our favorite part!”
GOING OUT WITH A BANG
“Surprising our guests with a fireworks show over the Arkansas River was the best end to the night! Fireworks were the one thing I knew I wanted when I got engaged!” MaryScott said. “I picked our venue based on the best place to watch fireworks over the river. Everybody thought I was crazy! It had to be approved by the city and the police department.”
FAVORITE MOMENT
“When the church doors opened, the organ played, and all of our friends and family stood up—the walk down the aisle with my dad to Logan is a moment I will never forget.”
PICTURE PERFECT
“Our favorite picture is the all-guest photo after our ceremony. Our wedding party guided all guests to the steps in front of the church,” MaryScott said. “Kati, [Mallory, our photographer] who was pregnant at the time, climbed a ladder to get the perfect shot! What is more special than having all of your family and friends in one photo?”
