Believe it or not, Patricia (PD) Elliot of Little Rock and Fayetteville resident Rotnei Clarke’s relationship began when she called him a “sissy.” A flirtatious conversation about basketball kick started this U of A couple’s love story, and they soon fell head over heels. Soon indeed. After only their first date, PD remembers telling her roommate she found the man she wanted to marry. Four and a half years later, after a sentimental scavenger hunt, Rotnei popped the question and the rest is history.
The Inspiration
The romantic mist of the Castle on Stagecoach cast a spell on PD and Rotnei and they fell in love with it immediately. Adding a rustic Italian ambiance to the springtime vows, they brought in a European pasta bar, wine barrels and whimsical flowers—all set against a backdrop of green and coral. The goal was to create a memorable and meaningful environment for everyone involved.
The Details
The couple had a few fun DIY projects, like making their own programs, but it was the food that stole the show. Everything was handpicked to showcase PD and Rotnei’s favorites. Kabobs, wings, a pasta bar and the groom’s surprise ice cream cake were big time crowd-pleasers.
PD is one of six sisters who all grew up admiring their mother’s wedding dress, even pulling it out to try it on every once in a while. As a special surprise, PD had some of her bridals taken in the dress and presented a photo to her mother the morning of her wedding, which later hung at the reception.
