Jessica Potter & James Anderson
June 6, 2015 • Fayetteville
Pratt Place Inn & Barn

It started with a love of the high jump for Beebe native James Anderson and Fayetteville’s Jessica Potter. They met on the track team at the University of Central Arkansas and started dating amongst the long hours of practicing and traveling. Pharmacy school took Jessica to Little Rock while James got a job in Northwest Arkansas. When she eventually got the option to transfer to the NWA campus, James helped her move into her new apartment. He took a pair of her sneakers outside to knock the dirt off and handed them back to her when he walked in. Tied to the strings was the most gorgeous ring Jessica had ever seen. She asked if it was real, and then James got on one knee with a much more important question to ask.

The Inspiration

Although Jessica loved her venue, she’d seen her fair share of Pratt Place Barn weddings. She was determined to make it look different for her big day, to make the space her own. Her vision was to create a totally unique atmosphere with a fresh elegance not typically associated with a barn. She chose décor in light colors that would stand out from the barn’s warm, wood interior. Neutral shades of whites, champagnes, golds and silvers matched with all white flowers to create the crisp ambiance she was looking for.

How They Customized

Jessica wanted a luxurious garden inside a barn, and that’s exactly what she got. Instead of using the wooden stairs as an altar, the couple stood in front of a wall of ivy and an antique dresser overflowing with florals. Beside the bride, her best ladies wore floor-length, shimmering champagne gowns. The pillars were wrapped in illuminated greenery, custom thank you cards shone through from beneath clear, gold-rimmed plates and the whole room glistened with a subtle sparkle.
