Fayetteville native Colleen Cornett and Jordan Matthews of Hot Springs are tying the knot! The two will exchange vows on Saturday, March 19, at the Grace Church of Northwest Arkansas, followed by a reception at George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville.
We're kicking off 2016 by crushing on Jordan and Colleen (and Colleen's tulle skirt!) in their adorable engagement sesh by Two Carters Photography. Even better is the heart-melting proposal story from Colleen.
We had been dating for about a year and a half when Jordan popped the question.
It was a Friday night -- the weekend of a Razorback football game. After an exhausting, busy week at work, we decided to go to our favorite restaurant -- the site of our very first date: Geraldi's. After dinner, we got in the car, and I had a text from my dad saying that our basement was flooding and he needed Jordan and I to come and help him move furniture out of the way of the water. I (the baby of my family) of course complained and whined that I didn't want to go, but we headed to my parents house. We pulled up and I rushed to get out of the car. "We're not here for what you think we are," he said as I reached for the door handle.
He took me around my house to my backyard—my favorite place in the entire world. He had lined the entrance with candles and pictures of us, immediately putting me in tears. He sat me down, took off my sandals and washed my feet, telling me the story when Jesus washed the disciples feet (yes—more tears.) Finally, he got on one knee and read me our "love story" that he had written out in a scrap book and on the final page it said, "Will you marry me?"Both of our families were watching from the upstairs window, and all of our close friends came over shortly after for a surprise engagement party. It was, by far, the best night of my life.
