Following Splendor Images

We love learning about the work behind the photographs we use on the Arkansas Bride blog, so we're happy to continue our "Meet the Photographers" series with Vonda Murdock of Following Splendor Images! Vonda hasn't always been a wedding photographer, but she's devoted herself to the business, and her dedication shows in her work.

So here's a peek into the life of Vonda Murdock.

How long have you been a professional wedding photographer?

I am entering my fifth year in wedding photography after years of landscape and portrait photography.

What did you do before?

I am a sign language interpreter, and I continue to be in love with the language. You can find me every Sunday at Hope Baptist Church in Sherwood interpreting.

How would you describe your photography style?

I love classic and timeless images. I want my couples to be able look back 20 years from now and still love their wedding photos. I create natural moments that make my couples feel comfortable and confident all day. I am a very hard worker and take my business very seriously. I develop a relationship with my couples that extends far beyond the wedding day.

What are moments you make sure to capture on a wedding day?

I am there from the first touches of makeup to seeing yourself in the mirror. Families coming together, the beauty of a perfect dress, that split second as the expression spreads across the face of a groom as he see his bride — all the way to that last dance and the last hug before you ride off into the sunset.

What do you love about being a wedding photographer?

My love for weddings is very complex, born from and sustained by all that inspires me — my love for a great story, a craving for beautiful things, my desire to create memories for others. I've been drawn to the spectacular three-act play of an unfolding wedding day and all of the love that flows throughout the day. That's why I'm a wedding photographer. It's my job and my honor to capture those sublime moments, so you can cherish them forever.

What’s your favorite part of photographing a wedding?

I love the time when it’s just the bride and groom. Whether it’s after the First Look or after the I Do's — I make beautiful art with just the two of them. Everything is calm, and the joy of the day is so very evident on their faces. It’s like the world all fades away as two hearts become one.

What price points can brides expect?

Collections start at $1,500. All my collections include an assistant and a beautiful wedding album that will become a family heirloom.

What’s one piece of advice you like to give brides on their big day?

Breathe. Enjoy every moment. It all goes by so fast — drink it all in! Make it a day you love. Eat the cake — order real flowers and make it a day you remember with joy in your hearts.

When you’re not shooting weddings, what do you like to do with your spare time?

I am an avid reader, and I love the theater — any theater. I love being with my husband and children. We love to cook together, and we love the outdoors. And it seems like our lives revolve around our fur baby named Remy!
