Bay native Megan Bowers and Lake Village native William Anthony III tied the knot during a private ceremony in Arkansas with friends and family before traveling to Oregon for an epic vow-exchanging backdrop.
Their Love Story
Megan and Will's birthdays are just days apart — Megan's is July 7 and Will's is July 9. To celebrate, they decided to take a trip to Portland in 2017. On July 8, they planned a hike along the Pacific coast. After arriving at Ecola State Park, the two headed on a short 3-mile hike towards Cannon Beach.
"Once at the beach we began walking towards where a cave meets a seawall," Megan says. "While taking in the view, I hear, 'Well, babe, the real reason we came here was to see if you would marry me, that is if you will have me?' I turn around and there he is, on one knee holding his family ring — a beautiful five-sapphire-stone engagement ring. With tears on my face, I said yes!"
The Big Day
Everything about Megan and Will's post-nuptial elopement to Oregon was special and meaningful for the couple. The two exchanged vows against the dramatic Oregon landscape exactly one year from when Will proposed at Ecola State Park. The couple wanted to include their family and friends, so they opted to have a small ceremony at their home before traveling west to Crater Lake National Park.
"We wanted our day to be filled with just love and doing what we adore the most — exploring together," Megan says. "We wrote and exchanged our vows during sunset at Crater Lake and had our photographers there to capture every moment. It was a perfect, love-filled day that we will treasure for a lifetime."
