Lauren Kinsey of Scott and Matthew Vinyard of Benton are engaged to be married Oct. 20 at Windsong Church of Christ in North Little Rock with a reception at Loft 1023 in Little Rock. All the best to them! Here's their story in their own words:
Matthew and I first met four years ago. We had our first date at U.S. Pizza and our second date the very next day with a trip to the lake. We both knew once we met each other that we wanted to spend lots more time together. We have been inseperable ever since.
When Matthew proposed, it was a total surprise. We had been dating for three years. It was Dec. 23, 2011. We were sitting in his living room in our favorite chair in front of the fireplace watching Christmas movies. We decided that we would open our gifts to each other that night before the hustle and bustle of Christmas Day. He opened all his gifts from me and I opened my gifts from him. He had one more left in this big box. Inside was this beautiul old wooden box with leather hinges and latches. On the top of the box he had burned our names on it. I was in awe of how beautiful & thoughtful the box was. It was made from old wood from my grandfather's barn that my grandfather built over 60 years ago and that we had recently remodeled.
I opened the box and inside were all the little love notes we had written each other over the three years we'd been dating! As I thumbed through all the love notes, I felt another small box. I picked it up, Matthew took it out of my hands, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. And I said yes!
