Brian and I were formally introduced in the spring of 2008 by my best friend, who is also his cousin. We grew up in the same city-- Marianna, Ark.-- but oddly never met one another. I was attending college and he was relocating to Little Rock for a career opportunity. Even though we met during transitional periods in our lives, we always remained close and kept in touch with one another.By the summer of 2011, we were both residing in Dallas. We dated over the next couple of years and have been inseparable ever since. In November 2013, Brian suggested we travel to Arkansas to visit my family for the weekend. It was not a holiday, so I was curious about this last-minute trip. Little did I know, Brian had already spoken to my parents and received their blessing to propose. While surrounded by family at dinner, he turned to me and asked if I would spend the rest of my life with him. I was speechless and shocked Through the tears, I was able to give him a 'yes'!
