Diamond color chart on the wall, who’s the rarest of them all? That would be the completely colorless stone, like a drop of clean water.

In nature, diamonds come in a wide variety of colors like red, orange, pink, blue, green and purple. These deeply colored stones are labeled “fancy.” No, really. They do make for some pretty kickin’ engagement rings (think Mariah Carey's pink number or Carrie Underwood's yellow diamond).

The most sought-after diamonds, however, are still the clear and colorless ones. These white diamonds are graded by absence of color on the Gemological Institute of America scale from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow).

Differences between grades are subtle to the eye, but can be significant to your bank account. Yes, you are still the fairest of them all, but keep this in mind when ring shopping.

Well, we’re halfway through, ladies! Keep watch for the last two of the Four C’s!
