Heather Emmanuel & Jason Ormand

It was a love of the game and a little sass that first brought Bentonville’s Heather Emmanuel and Corpus Christi’s Jason Ormand together. The two met in a Dallas sports bar after an Arkansas vs. Texas A&M football game when Jason overheard Heather say she was from The Natural State. He saw the opportunity to strike up a conversation, and it wasn’t long before the teasing and flirting turned into something more.

Three years later, Jason proposed just before they set out to visit family for Thanksgiving, and he captured the whole thing on a GoPro. As for the rivalry, Heather and Jason attend the Arkansas vs. Texas A&M game together every year to celebrate their anniversary.

The Inspiration

This couple had many motives and influences behind their planning, but each pointed to a common denominator: bright. They wanted the wedding to be a reflection of their quirkiness, creativity and vibrant love for one another. They avoided a “blush and bashful” wedding, and instead opted for a bold palette with deep blues and striking pinks, oranges and fuchsias.

How They Customized

Festivities began a day early for Heather. Because her father is a native of Pakistan, she chose to have a mehndi celebration where her hands were decorated with henna and where her female friends and relatives danced around her, encircling her with love.

On the big day, the couple created a unique experience by blending their signature boldness with elegant rustic pieces as a nod to the groom’s family ranch — modern place settings looking right at home next to wooden cake stands.
