Exciting news for Benton native Katy Stracener and Little Rock's Tommy Kennedy! This cute couple will say "I do" on Saturday, March 7, at the First Baptist Church in Benton.
Tommy and Katy meet in the spring of 2010 at the University of Central Arkansas. It was not until the fall semester of 2011 that the two become more than friends. Their first date was on September 24, 2011 where Tommy took Katy to Cheers in the Heights, Starbuck, and to see The Lion King at the Rave Theater. Over the next three years Tommy and Katy dated and fell in love.
On August 30, 2014, Tommy and Katy went on a day date to tour the local Diamond Bear Brewery. In order to "kill time" before their dinner reservation, Tommy suggested they go walk around the Chenal Promenade. As they were walking around the Promenade, Tommy began to say sweet things that didn't make sense at the time, and before Katy knew it, he was down on one knee asking for her hand in marriage.
Katy was filled with so many emotions she almost forgot to say "yes!" Tommy had worn the ring on a necklace the whole day and Katy could not believe she had not noticed.
Tommy and Katy are more than excited and ready to begin their lives together as husband and wife!
Congratulations, you two!
