Now this is how you kick off a month. Pocahontas native Katie Edington and Joshua Jenkins from Lake Village are tying the knot! The two are getting hitched on Saturday, May 30, at the Sutton Free Will Baptist Church in Pocahontas, with a reception at the James Ranch.

Josh and I, like many couples, met in college. We were both accounting majors and finally worked up the courage to talk our senior year. After college we both decided to stay here in Jonesboro, which is long distance from Josh’s family. Josh wanted to incorporate a part of his home and family in the proposal and found the perfect chance one Saturday. His nephew, Landon, was going to be in town for the day so we were in charge of babysitting. We took Landon to the nature center and began our walk around the boardwalk. When we got to a certain spot, Josh told me his sister had left something in Landon’s backpack for him. I opened the bag to find a shirt that said “Will you be my Aunt?” and when I turned around, Josh was on one knee! He was even thoughtful enough for me to “win” a free manicure earlier that week and have my sister hidden with a camera! I could not have asked for a better proposal or husband-to-be!
